Although most people know not to burn plastic, cardboard or treated timber, it’s surprising how much of this is still burned, causing damage to the flue (as the particles stick and cause a thick residue to form), creating fire hazards (the residue can catch fire) and causing harm to the environment – and of course people’s health as the soot is in fact tiny particles that could be inhaled.
